A Note from Cinephiliac

Contrary to popular belief, I am actually very anxious to post on this blog that no one is using. With my ambitions of being a film writer/director, this could be very risky for me. But you know what, what the hell. Let me write whatever I want to about film under a pseudonym. Cinephiliac, don't you think it fits? I cannot exist without a film on (currently watching Autumn in New York on the Winona Ryder collection on Criterion before it goes away, so far fantastic). I suppose this is what makes this blog possible, my passion and love of film. I grew up in Los Angeles, so isn't it just perfect? I've left for college now and the city I'm in has no singular company that does year long film festivals. Isn't that just sad? American Cinematheque.. I miss you. I'm coming home soon.

During my time at college, what I've learned so far is that while everyone likes films and can claim to be a cinephile, a lot of people don't actually have the rotting abilities and creative mind it takes to truly be a cinephile. Believe me, I am envious of those people. I long for the days where I'd be at a party and not just think about how I would set a scene here, where I'd place the camera, what tricks I would do, how I would change the lighting. Or, how I'd rather be home watching a movie. It's for this reason I want to combine the two worlds. In my college career, I hope to make my own year-long film festival. Just need to find somewhere that would host...

Watch out Portlandia, a new film festival is coming soon.

    XX,

    Cinephiliac
